Wood Canada’s Edmonton workplace takes advantage o Wood Canada’s Edmonton workplace takes advantage of an existing office build-out in a unique building. Constructed of repurposed rig mats and assembled in a steel structure, the interior spaces feature the exposed wood slat floors and ceilings throughout. These materials resulted in an authentically industrial environment, which our team enhanced with the Client’s branding and workplace principles for their growing team.
We're proud to share our Principal, Mitchell Brook We're proud to share our Principal, Mitchell Brooks, was a recipient of the Kimball International Makers of a Better Future fund from @kimball_international and the @iida_hq. Alongside fellow recipient Lauren Cole from Providence Health Services, both were honoured at the IIDA's Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Kimball International established the Makers of a Better Future fund in partnership with the IIDA Foundation to support IIDA members who are integrating the spirit of foresight into design, fostering innovative solutions for tomorrow's challenges. This award recognizes those committed to advancing technology, sustainability, or social evolution through visionary design practices.

Mitchell leads LLID's future-focused work in our development model for prefabricated hotel interiors in office-to-hotel conversion and new mass-timber facilities. This work explores how interior design can operate as infrastructure, not just space. By using foresight in real world applications, Mitchell's work contributes to a built environment that is more resilient and efficient, while also being capable of supporting both people and systems over time.
We love bringing an architectural approach to our We love bringing an architectural approach to our award-winning spaces by playing with shape and form. Unique elements like this are inspired by our client's dreams, coordinated with our contractors to ensure the constructability (ie how tight can we made a rounded corner in drywall), all while applying our expertise and experience. The reveals in the black frame make the elements separate pieces to fabricate off site, while also making future repairs easier; the top curve flattens out before it intersects the curved wall, making the construction geometrically possible.

And yes, door number 1 has a pocket door incorporated.
